The painting is based on the location: Piparböle, Umeå

Piparböle is located just outside Umeå and is an untouched part of a rocky ridge. Here, sparse pine forest spreads over open heaths where many unusual mushrooms thrive. Next door is Piparbölesjön – a tranquil forest lake that contributes to the area’s rich natural values.

This particular location was the starting point for this painting. I have picked pigments from the soil along the lakeshore and paths, charcoal remains from an old fireplace, and crushed small stones of brick and lime that I ground down and used in the first layer of paint in the painting.

The painting is not an exact image of the place itself, but the pigments were collected from here and the colors from the stones have instead been allowed to flow freely and form their own landscapes and structures.

• Painted on cotton canvas that is treated with a transparent primer mixed with coffee to preserve the canvas's raw, natural surface and structure.
• Pendant on the back
• Signed on front and back
• Certificate of authenticity included with description of all colors and pigments included
• Finished with a plant-based varnish that protects the painting against UV rays and enhances and preserves the colors

- Sand from the site as texture for the background
- Coal from a fireplace at Piparbölesjön
- Acrylic paint
- Details with oil pastel
